3 tips to create the perfect Facebook cover

The Facebook Cover was introduced in 2011. This is a very important element of your fanpage, you need to make sure your brand shines on Facebook. Here are 3 tips to create an original and effective image for your Facebook cover: 1) Create an image with the good size Here is a list of formats you need to use: Size of the cover image : 850*315 pixels Profile image : 160*160 pixels Position of the profile image : 23 pixels from the left border and 210 pixels from the top border of your cover picture. Remember not to put anything in this space, it will be hidden by the profile picture once uploaded. Size of the cover image for groups : 800*250 pixels 2) Take care of the design Use a design that illustrates your brand. You can change the cover whenever you want, so you can renew it regularly. For inspiration: visit the pages you like and on the following slides. 3) Use « Call to actions » and arrows Since July 2013, the amount of text that can be included in a cover picture on Facebook is no longer limited. Feel free to add texts that comply with copyrights and do not mislead your fans. Facebook Edgerank formula is changing

Even if the current EdgeRank formula is known by all good Community Manager, there are still questions (and mysteries) about how Facebook News Feed works and how updates appearance is managed. The News Feed algorithm responds to signals such as: The frequency of your interactions with friends, Pages, or public figures who posted The number of interactions (Likes, Shares, Comments) on posts, by your friends or by anyone on Facebook The number of interactions (Likes, Shares, Comments) by you on this kind of posts in the past The fact that you chose or anyone on Facebook chose to hide or report a specific post Facebook decided to give more information about the News Feed in their new « Facebook for business » section and published a first post about a new change. A user may have an average 1500 stories to read during a visit on Facebook and sometimes they don’t scroll enough in the News Feed to see every one of them. Now posts that they did not scroll down far enough to see can reappear at the top of News Feed if they are still getting lots of likes and comments. After a few tests, results were conclusive for the social network: An increase of 5% of the number of Likes, Shares and Comments on friends posts and an increase of 8% for pages updates. The proportion of posts seen by a user was raised from 57% to 70%. There are less and less unseen posts. Your stories will get more reach and, as a matter of fact, your engagement rate will be improved by this new change. 4 Facebook features you need to know about

You probably know that Facebook is updated quite often with new features. It can be difficult to keep track of all these changes, that’s why we decided to help you with 3 new Facebook features that you absolutely must know! 1) Hashtags Very well-known on Twitter, hashtags have freshly landed on Facebook. Hashtags allow you to provide context to your posts as clickable keywords. So if someone clicks on your hashtag or do a search on it, they will find all of the public posts including it. In addition, users will see related hashtags that will allow them to see public updates containing alternative keywords. Hashtags can be very useful especially when organizing an event or promoting a game or a marketing campaign. Be sure to use only one or two hashtags to avoid confusion among users. 2) Graph Search The Graph Search is Facebook new search engine. Since July 2013, it is available on all users accounts and allows them to find people, pages, events but also filter results by adding links between these elements. For example, a user can request to see a list of people who love a particular page or people who watched a particular film. 3) Changing link thumbnails in updates When you post a link on Facebook, the social network automatically displays a thumbnail image which is tagged in the Open Graph of the original page.
